My Approach
Here's the thing: I don't believe in sugarcoating my thoughts or writing reviews that could apply to any book. When I sit down to write, I'm thinking about what makes this particular story tick—or why it doesn't quite work. I look at the craft, sure, but I also pay attention to how a book made me feel, what it's trying to say, and whether it delivers on its promises.
My ratings aren't arbitrary numbers. If I give a book four stars, I can tell you exactly why it earned them and what kept it from five. If something falls short, I'll explain that too. I'm not here to tear books apart, but I'm also not going to pretend a book is perfect when it isn't. What I aim for is honesty wrapped in thoughtfulness—the kind of review I'd want to read before picking up my next book.
